Orlando Recap!

Updated: Oct 9, 2024

I write this as we fly from Florida to San Fransisco before our connecting flights to Taiwan then Thailand. These final two weeks of training have been incredible and so evidently Spirit-filled.

This Wednesday we had a commissioning ceremony at Cru Headquarters. The staff present were members of the executive team, people who had taught us, and those had met through conversation. After the team and I shared why we chose this gap year, the response from the community was overwhelming. I’m feeling so encouraged knowing that without even trying, people can already see the love of Jesus in the way we love each other and interact with others. Several individuals have shared with us or our leaders how they’ve been impacted by our team already, so I could not be more excited for the opportunities to come.

Thankfully, Orlando was not heavily affected by hurricane Helene. We were blessed and so grateful that the worst we experienced was heavy rain and intense winds. Since schools, businesses, and some establishments were closed the day it hit, we were grateful for a day of rest. It looks like there will be another intense hurricane hitting that area this week- so please be praying for those in the Tampa/Orlando area!

Some crazy team activities from the week include: bowling, making pad Thai (thanks to Jill), exploring a market and downtown area, getting matching shorts, target and walmart runs, a final 7-11 stop, and plenty of Just Dance.

I can’t say it enough, God has been good. There have been challenging moments and harder mornings where it’s seemed difficult to find continual joy in what we’re doing. In the midst of all the feelings, God’s truth and grace is constant. He has provided countless reminders of his goodness.

Prayer Requests:

  • Safe travels!

  • There has been flooding in Chiang Mai, so swift relief efforts and safety in being there

  • Peace and strength as we adjust to a new culture

  • Protection again spiritual warfare (Thailand is a very spiritual intense place)

  • That Christ’s love may be displayed in all we do
