We’ve officially been in Orlando for over half our time here! Every day the reality of leaving the country and heading to Thailand becomes more tangible. It’s difficult in many ways, especially as life here is beginning to feel comfortable and we’ve settled into a routine. The sound of laughter constantly bounces against our appartment walls. The silence of post-training naps has provided peace. The spontaneous dance parties and joyous singing have filled us all with warmth. I’ll say it again and again, but I couldn’t be more grateful for this team. Each one of them is an answer to prayer.
A quick recap: Last week was centered on team and personal growth. We explored different assessments for understanding ourselves, caring for the team, and handling conflict. Each lesson was super engaging and we had some incredibly honest conversations because of them. Maja celebrate her birthday! We took a team trip to New Smyrna Beach (near Daytona) and thankfully didn’t get bitten by sharks. I was able to share my testimony at a Cru meeting and God has been reminding me of his faithful love and grace towards me and all people. This coming week’s training is mainly focused on Thai culture and preparing for the adjustment to come.
A longer recap: The highlight of my week was a huge storm that came through- our entire team went outside to dance and play in the rain. It was such a blessing, feeling refreshed and getting to enjoy simplicity like little kids again. I’ve been taking more time to reflect, journal, and care for the introvert in me. In those times of stillness and solitude, the Lord has provided my heart with so much peace. As a team, we reviewed love styles, love languages, conflict styles, and our strengths/weaknesses. These sessions were such a learning opportunity for us all and allowed us to connect deeply. Our Saturday at New Smyrna Beach was beautiful. I was able to meet up with Kristina, a friend from home, which was such a gift. One of the biggest unexpected blessings I’ve experienced is having a team that loves to cook. Between experimenting with new meals, running to stores late at night, or moving a bed from our leader’s apartment to ours, this group keeps life interesting and FUN!
